Testing out my new chromebook, Stephan.
The small screen will take some getting used to, but for what I plan using this for, it will do quite nicely.
Necessary Niceties
So, in my incredibly, super humble opinion—Like, I am the most humble person in all of existence, Stephan. The humblest.
....
What was I even talking about again?
Oh, yeah, chromebook stuff.
So, chromebook as it arrives is unusuable. You know what I do when I start up a computer? Crtl-Alt-T. Now, if I'm on Windows, that does nothing and I go, "Oh, yeah, I wanted to play games." Otherwise, I see a terminal come up and I do whatever it is I wanted to do.
Ctrl-Alt-T has a terminal come up, but I could not do what I wanted to do. Seriously, there were like, five commands, none of which were things I wanted to do. It was some pretend shell called crosh. Didn't even have ssh on it.
Unacceptable.
So, I did some searching, and it seemed like there should be a bin shell I can access via:
Now, I tried that, and I got an error saying it didn't exist.
....
Unacceptable.
Further searching revealed the need to put my chromebook into a mode called "Developer Mode".
I used this page to put it into such a mode.
Now I have bash and a whole slew of commands I expect to have back at my portable fingertips.
Anyways, there's a lot further to go on this:
(Note: I just found those through quick google searches on the chromebook, I am not sure how good the advice or methods are. Still exploring.)
For now, I'm pretty satisfied writing this blog post.
