Budget System Moving Slowly

So, I've written a little thing in javascript to add up my spending that I'm logging into a JSON file. Right now, I'm updating two JSON files by hand: spending.json and receipts.json. Hopefully, once my system is smart enough, it'll only be a receipt database of all my expenditures and the rest can be calculated from there. And in a really ideal scenario, this system would automatically read from and update the spreadsheet we're also keeping to track budget stuff, but that's a really far away goal.

But for right now it's a command line tool that tells me how much groceries and maintenance I've spent since I've begun, tells me how much I have allocated to those buckets by now, and how much is left in each bucket.

I have a ways to go, but starting makes it real, at least. Much better than the nothing I had before.

Let's hope I can keep making it better.
