C++ Learning Via Friend's Game

So, I've been focusing on learning Javascript, but I still also want to get good at C++. I'm getting some experience with it at work, but I'd like to approach it and learn it via other codebases and environments.

I've felt this way for a while, but between focusing on Javascript and not having an idea of what to work on for C++ experience, I just let the thought float in the back of my brain. However, recently my friend posted a link to a github repository of the game he's working on in C++.

I promptly forked his repository. I hope to make some time this weekend messing around with the code, and gleaning some good C++ practices and understanding out of how he went about building the game. Maybe I could help him with the process somehow. Though, according to the readme, it's a remake of one of his earliest games, so I don't know how interested he is in collaboration. It's probably purely a learning exercise.

Either way, definitely something I want to poke around with, if not take as a serious side-project.
