End of Day Review

09/04/15

Been a while since I did one of these. Once I get back into the habit, it'll be a diary thing, but right now it's enough of a novelty to deserve to be its own blog post.

Eventually I'm going to want to have some sort of template that I fill out like I do at work. But for now I'll just do a simple overview of the day, make some preliminary plans for tomorrow, and that's be that.

Review of the Day

I guess weekdays can be broken down into mornings, work, breaks at work, cooking, and evenings? I'll work it out as I go along.

Morning

More-or-less got up and went to work.

Work

Started off slow, but got into the working groove by the end of the working day, managed to do a weekly review today, which I think is really good for keeping momentum and stuff.

Breaks at Work

Mostly read Mr. Money Mustache

Cooking

Cooked some gluten-free penne and made some cheese sauce. Pretty delicious.

Evening

Watched Kingsmen. Good flick. I had already read Film Crit Hulk's excellent review of the movie, and that certainly affected my perception of the film while watching. But in a good way, I think.

Then I got into setting up my chromebook. I had purged the old crouton setup yesterday, whilst I modded my phone, and needed to reget all the site stuff off the server and set things up how I like them. I mostly managed to backup most of what I cared about. Unfortunately, I missed the .vim and .vimrc stuffs. Some stuff has been lost and needs to be remade. But that's okay, redoing stuff is often really valuable and good for personal growth.

Plan for Tomorrow

I got a contractor guy coming over to go over what I want to fix on the house and give me some quotes and stuff. He's coming around 1000.

I'd like to do a morning routine when I get up, and also 4 pomodoros towards any given thing, as long as it's something. I need to plan the next week, food-wise, and I'll need to cook at the end of the day. Meaning I'll need to go grocery shopping at some point during the day as well.

It might be worthwhile to hook up my bike-trailer and head on over to Costco and get a few bulk items. Though, there might not be a good time for that, considering contractor stuff and such.

Might just make do with what we have and what I can scrap together from the groceries available at the local Target.

Final Thoughts

Wow, this is way more primitive than the setup I got at work. I mean, it's still just html at work, but I've really refined the process. It hadn't occurred to me how much the structure and the small amount of automation I had in place was doing for me. Yet another good reason to be starting this at home.
