First Month Failures
01/25/15
So, as far as goals for the year goes, not really off to a great start, Stephan. To be fair, I planned a lot of stuff and made no real plan to execute those things.
....
That doesn't sound like a good excuse when I write it down. It's as my brother says, "A goal without a plan is a wish." Seems like I was doing more wishing than planning. I guess working towards an actual plan might be a good step.
The Meta Plan
Okay, so I need to build habits that lazy me agrees to. I need to build personal rituals that get me into a right mindset. I mention last Feburary a lot, and now another Feburary is coming up. It's time to shotgun everything I can think that I did last year to get into that amazingly productive period of my life, but now with more knowledge, experience, and know-how.
So, what was I doing?
- Going to sleep at the same time everyday
- Counting calories
- Running about 2.2 miles per weekday
- Extra-curricular work before actual work each day
- Consistent diet patterns
- Consistent cleaning habits
What wasn't I doing?
- Drinking soda
- Eating candy
What did my environment contain?
- ....
What was not in my environment?
- Cats
- Dogs
- Weed-infested yard
- An unmainted, dirty area
Some differences (aka, the lack of cats and dogs) are impossible to reverse, but I can reset a lot of these variables back to their status a year ago. Not much to sacrifice, and maybe a lot to gain.
I might as well try it. Maximizing my personal state-of-mind should give me the resources necessary to work towards an actual plan for the myriad goals I have for the days, weeks, and months of this year.
