Fixing Lost Post

09/27/15

Work on node.js scripts for the sake of various blog improvements/iterations has revealed various things already. Most of them are not worthy of note. However, one thing that is worthy of note is that I didn't realize at the time that QuakeCon Approaches had overwritten QuakeCon Approaches. I figured this would happen eventually, me naming a previous post and overwritting. I did not figure that I would have already have done this over two months ago.

Thankfully, I started versioning this blog much ealier than July of this year. All I needed to do was go back in time to when the post was its older self, and then rename it to something more unique.

Checkout repo commit that does not contain new post that overwrote old one:

git checkout `git rev-list -n 1 --begin="2015-07-01" master`

Copy old version of file:

cp public/blog/quakecon_approaches.html public/blog/quakecon_approaches_140715.html

Return to head:

git checkout master

For completeness, let's rename the newer version of the file to something unique so this doesn't happen next year.

git mv public/blog/quakecon_approaches.html public/blog/quakecon_approaches_150719.html

And now the lost post has returned.

Yay.
