Fixing Sleep Schedule
03/06/15
So, something I really need to do is fix my sleep schedule again. Once upon a time, I was waking up at 3 a.m. and going to sleep at 8:30 p.m. Various things happened that broke that cycle, but I would greatly prefer to return to something similar. Maybe sleep at 9 p.m. and wake up around 4:30 a.m.
I think that would work best for the productivity schedule I'm trying to make for myself. I'd like an hour and a half of productivity in the morning, plus 30 minutes for walking the dogs and 30 minutes for various other things. Then I can head to work around 7 a.m. and get there by 7:30 a.m. Which would allow four hours of work, then an hour break for Super Smash Bros. Melee, and then another four hours of work. I could head home around 4:30 and get home around 5. Then I could do an end-of-day review and then spend the rest of the day doing non-productive stuff.
I still don't know how I developed the habit and discipline to wake up and sleep at regular times that I found ideal. It seems the thing that worked the most was having morning me agree to all the plans and thoughts that evening me came up with. But I don't know how I did that.
Something that seemed to work was learning that melatonin lingers in your system after you wake up, and so you feel tired when you aren't. I would wake up thinking about that and it would help me wake up.
So maybe I need to think of stuff like that. Stuff that will convince me I'm not really tired when I wake up in the morning and feel tired. Thus, I can't argue that I need more sleep, and morning me can consider his priorities.
I also need to make sure I'm sleeping well. I feel like I'm sleeping pretty well, but there's a lot of variables I should verify if I want to have a consistent sleep schedule. And I do want that. I think a productive morning habit is the key to consistently productive weekends and will just make me happier overall.
