House Selling Prep Strats
07/17/15
Starting sometime August, I will be making solid steps towards selling my house and moving to a cheaper one. It's not that I can't afford the current one, it's that it's bigger than I need and I believe I stand to gain from down-sizing.
Though, much like how I had no idea how to go about buying a house (and have gained little experience there, quite frankly), I have no idea how to go about selling a house. I also still have no idea how to properly maintain or improve a house. Meaning I don't know how to go about fixing the damage I have done to the house thus-far, or fixing what I found to be wrong with it in the two years and so many months that I've lived in it.
But, that's okay, I got time and I have no qualms about asking for help, and I think I have plenty of potential sources for help:
-
Dayna Thacker
- The realtor who helped me find and buy the property
- Would probably appreciate the positive press of me mentioning her by name (I have no idea who actively reads my blog, though)
- Friendly, knowledgeable, patient
- Emailed me a list of contacts that may be useful
-
Contractor friend of room mate
- Already did free work on my house
- I'm totally willing to pay for him to do work on my house
- I would love to help him do work on my house and/or other houses for the learning experience alone
- Habitat for Humanity volunteering and networking
-
Mr. Money Mustache
- He helps random people all the time
- Why not?
So, I have a lot of options to explore. Most all of them can be explored in parallel and I can eliminate certain considerations as more information becomes available to me.
I stand to gain by doing something, so it's time to do something.
