I Will Contribute to io.js
04/25/15
So, this month's TucsonJS Meetup was about io.js, what it is, and why it exists. My diary post about it can be found here.
Of particular interest was how the speaker, Omer, talked about how easy it was to contribute to io.js. Significant contributions to it would take writting C++/C as well as JavaScript, and also probably require a growing understanding of V8, Chrome's JavaScript compiler, and libuv, an asynchronous file I/O made by Microsoft to more easily make node compatible with Windows (I think). Both libraries update at a fast rate, and io.js defintely has work for people interested in contributing there.
Though, apparently contributing along most any axis is encouraged on the io.js setup. Overall, I think it'd be a great learning experience, and will probably be a good focus for May.
