Japanese Study Habits
10/21/14
Two weeks ago, I started studying Japanese with Rosse. We've both studied it before, Rosse for three years, and me for two. I even went to Japan for a few weeks once. It was a positive experience.
I had been wanting to get back into studying it for a long time now, but have never made the time. But two weeks ago, we decided that every morning Rosse and I would walk down to the local Starbucks, pull out our old Japanese textbooks, and review our Japanese.
In two weeks we have gotten to the second chapter of the second textbook (though, I probably skimmed the first a bit too much).
We've also joined Lang-8. We've done very little there so far, but we have a rough draft of a post in our notebook, and have been working on a translation of our introductory post thanks to some help from a user named Michelle.
One hour or so of Japanese, out of the house, each morning has been pretty wonderful. It gives me energy for work on weekdays, and gets me out of my want to be lazy on weekends. I'm really enjoying it, and am glad Rosse and I agreed to try this out.
Making progress on my Japanese almost seems like a nice secondary effect of the whole thing.
