Japaense Study Tool: Users Are Go!

06/19/15

So, I forgot to write a post yesterday. As Rosse says, I'm already in vacation-mode (vacation starts tomorrow). It's all right, I'll write some catch-up posts throughout the week. That was a really long streak though. Maybe I should count it?

Eh. That's not the point of this post.

This post is about how my Japanese Study Tool is now in a state that allows users. Awesome. I still have some basic sanity checks to implement before I could "safely" allow just any random person create a login, so I'll just make it so I create one for myself and one for Rosse on the server setup. I'm also going to want to hack together a quick thing that lets me run on my chromebook locally (when I don't have Internet), but syncs up with the main server when I do have online capabilities.

In any case, making users work required a Frankensteinien merge of two Scotch.io tutorials:

I had forked both of these tutorial's code, and after getting familiar I copied and altered the relevant code to my new repository: japaneseStudyTool.

There's still a long ways to go before an "open-beta", or even a closed one, for that matter. But it's a tool I'm going to use and I have lots of ideas and motivation for improvement.
