Learning MEAN

So, I want to make that Japanese study-tool, but a lot of the milestones I have identified requires a client-server relationship that I have no experience developing.
Luckily, I follow various Javascript-related Twitter accounts, and one linked to an interesting JSON Web Token , and that article linked to a tutorial of how to build a restful api using node and express which should be very useful for building a kanji database system for my tool.
Anyways, all this stuff introduced me to the concept of the MEAN stack. MEAN stands for MongoDB, Node.js, Express, and AngularJS. It's a framework for an easy starting point with these tools and libraries. I've already messed with Node.js and Express a bit, and I've heard enough about MongoDB and AngularJS that I've planned on messing with them eventually.
So, learning this may be what I focus on for a bit, until I get a better idea on how I want to tackle the Japanese study-tool problem.
