Mold in Da House
08/17/15
Mold! In my house, Stephan. And actually it was kinda signficant, though contained in an area I rarely go into. Though, it was a place where a friend/room mate/tenant sleeps. So, you know, a serious problem. Though, lately it's been really hot, and that room doesn't handle bright, hot summers too well, so he was already sleeping in the main area of the house.
....
Basically, this all happened at a time where no one got hurt or ill and also it turned out to not be that bad and also a little fun.
I got to stab the walls of my house until there were holes you could see through. Yeah! I mean, I need to fix that, but one step at a time.
I took no pictures.... Well, except for the ones I sent to the warrenty people about the secondary water heater.
You see, I have two water heaters. A main, gas one, and a secondary, electric one. The secondary one was setup in an add-on to the house. Basically, most everything I find out about this add-on makes me think it was poorly done for anything non-visible.
Water piping was done over the house instead of around the house making the pipe more susceptible to freeze-bursting (which it did last winter). Also, the waste plumbing isn't properly steep and it has a strong likelihood of backing up.
And then this water heat melts from the inside... which might actually just be the fault of a faulty water heater. Which just happens. Though, what wasn't the water heater's fault was its placement on basic concrete. It says right on the container for it to be placed somewhere where leakage won't do damage. So when it ended up melting from the inside and leaking everywhere, it seaped into the wall and caused mold.
Black mold.
Which is gone now. Because I cut it out and bleached to death what little remained.
And now I want even more to learn proper house stuff. Especially since I have a pair of walls with giant holes in them. It'll be fixed by the first week of September, when at the latest a contractor will come and fix it. I've demanded to help so I can learn something.
It's nice to at least know a little bit about killing mold and doing it safely. Which I guess I should talk about.
Future post, maybe?
