Retrying Old Sleeping Strats
01/16/15
For about a month or so around Feburary 2014, I had complete control of my sleep schedule. My discipline was high enough that I went to sleep at the same time everyday and woke up less than 7.5 hours later each day (if I woke up too soon, I punished myself by waking up for the day).
I'm not currently in that level of control, and I'm still not sure how exactly I managed it. Diet? Consistency of habit? Learning to convince lazy me of things while productive me is in control?
I'm going to try various things again and see if I can regain that control.
One thing that really seemed to help me was reading that melatonin lingers in your system for up to around 30 minutes after waking up. So, when I woke up, I convinced myself I should try getting up even when I really felt I could or should keep sleeping.
So, reminder lazy future self, you don't really need more sleep, it's just the lingering melatonin.
