Site Thinking
04/15/15
So, as is probably obvious by now, I've been focusing a lot on tools for my site. Cleaning up my site has been a lot like actual cleaning in that I put it off for a really long time and once I start I can't stop. It's a little bit addicting, and it's also easy to get hung up on insignificant things that don't matter near as much as the obvious hard things.
Keeping this in mind, I figured it'd be good to make a high-level list of things I want to do with my site before I do other things for a while:
- Server running site on node
- Fix all broken or unimplemented links
- Automatic RSS updating
- CSS Reset
-
Auto-generating and additional dynamic formatting of served html
content including, but not limited to
- Serving index areas dynamically
- Formating code tags (with colored syntax)
And that'll be good for a while. There's a lot more stuff I want to do with how I do things regarding my site, but this'll at least shallowing touch mostly all the things I care about. Going further would be iterating upon the little bit I've done here: using real databases for site content, real templating, et cetera. And these are all valuable things to do, but I think I need to make some time for game development practice and open-source contributions, so I need to wrap this up for now.
I think I'll give myself two weeks to finish up site stuff for now. After that, I'll assess what most I want to do and work on that for a bit.
