This is Classic Me

11/28/14

So, I'm about to connect the #node.js channel on irc.freenode.net, and....

I was deciding between sticking with pidgin (with which I am somewhat familiar) for now or diving back into messing with terminal irc chat program irssi which looks like it'd be my cup of tea, after I get past what will surely be a wicked, vim-like learning curve....

But! I already know enough irssi to make a simple hello post. Oh, but I'll read some of the introductory documentation just to make sure....

Oh, hey, they recommend keeping an irssi session going with a screen. I'll just set that up on my desktop....

Well, I turn off my desktop regularly, might as well set it up on my server....

Oh, I don't have it installed on my server.

~$ sudo apt-get install irssi
~$ irssi
04:49 -!- Irssi: Looks like this is the first time you've run irssi.
04:49 -!- Irssi: This is just a reminder that you really should go read
04:49 -!- Irssi: startup-HOWTO if you haven't already. You can find it
04:49 -!- Irssi: and more irssi beginner info at http://www.irssi.org
04:49 -!- Irssi:
04:49 -!- Irssi: For the truly impatient people who don't like any automatic
04:49 -!- Irssi: window creation or closing, just type: /MANUAL-WINDOWS
04:49 -!- Irssi:
04:49 -!- Irssi: For Ubuntu specific help type "/connect irc.ubuntu.com"
04:49 -!- Irssi: and "/join #ubuntu" (without the quotes) and ask your
04:49 -!- Irssi: question.

....

You know what? That's probably actually a pretty good idea. I should read the documentation and stuff....

No.

No, no, no.

I am introducing myself on the #node.js channel first and foremost. No more non-necessary distractions,Stephan. It can come later.
