Training Everyday Plan

04/02/15

This blog is me writing everyday. Not being a professional writer, and having little experience, that's actually good training. Writing everyday itself is going to teach me a lot about how to execute various writing techniques:

Now, writing everyday won't improve my writing forever. It's sort've like running everyday. Yeah, at first, running everyday was a great way to get faster at running, but then I need to focus on correct breathing technique, recovery/hard run alternating, and building the right muscles. After the initial "just run everyday" training, I eventually plateaued and needed to train differently. Now, I wonder if doing all of those above things earlier, while just running everyday was useful, would have been better. I don't think it would've been. Part of it is I wouldn't have seen the value of it without the initial training, and the other part is that the running itself would tire me out enough.

And so the same goes for this blog. I am not yet at the level I wish to be with writing or self-discipline, and I still think I gain a lot out of writing everyday, but it is about time to start adding different writing exercises to my routine.

Further, I have decided that I will maintain the "blog everyday" until the end of the year. After that, I believe I'll want to train a different skill everyday in the hopes of it being of value to me. I think there's a lot of value and feedback in the everyday, don't-break-the-chain sort of strategy, but I think that that value only lasts through a certain level of inexperience, and then one's strategies need to evolve to further get better.
