Trying Out Mint

11/14/14

So, I've been slowly working on some sort of personal financial tool, but in the back of my head I was thinking to myself that I was probably creating something someone else has done a good enough job at creating.

So, I searched around a bit, and then I asked some friends, and I was told about Mint. Now, some friends in the past had told me about this online financial app, but I perhaps prematurely decided against it. I didn't want one online tool having access to all my financial accounts.

But, I changed my mind recently when it occured to me that it isn't that big of a leap from having all my financial information online spread across multiple sites, and having one site connect all those sites together.

So, starting yesterday, I have a Mint account.

So far, I'm not too impressed, but it does look like it'll mostly approximate what I wanted to eventually achieve with my tool, so whatever. The interface is also pretty slick and easy to grok. The extra things I want are now things I can focus on with my tool, while I also finish fine-tuning my setup on Mint.

Onward, to better financial control and literacy!
