Unproductive Again
02/07/15
As soon as I titled this post I knew I would preface it with this: being "unproductive" now is way more productive than before. And today actually wasn't too bad, as far as getting things done goes. I didn't get nothing done, but I did still fall into bad patterns of doing nothing. And it's that insiduous nothing that further drains any capability of action with every passing second.
A missing piece of the productivity equation from a year ago is the daily running I used to do. My diet is pretty clean right now and I am approximately going to be at the same time each night (though that needs work still, too). But I need new shoes, and I have not made the priority to go get new ones at the wicked-sweet store about a mile down the street from work.
So, screw it, going to get another pair on Amazon as per usual and make time next month for a pair of shoes more specifically chosen for my feet at this wicked-sweet store.
My home productivity is also much better than my work productivity. So, there's definitely some stuff missing at work, or stuff I haven't properly ingrained into habit. Spaced-repetition? Morning checklist? General organization of the things I want/need to get done?
I probably need to spend a good chunk of time just exploring through my possibility space and really give my subconscious all the information and structure it needs to do a kick-ass job. Both at work and at home, but I should do work first, because home is more stable right now and there's no guarantee that any changes I incorporate in my home system will migrate to my work system (and vice versa). Or that consciously attempting such a migration is an easy task (setting up spaced-repetition at work has been difficult but I think it'll be incredibly valuable to me once it is in place there).
On the bright side, I'm reading a new book again (I wonder how this will affect my blogging throughput). Back on the negative side: I really need to write the reviews for the past few books I've read.
Urgh. Maybe blogging at home again will help motivate me there.
