Wuxia Game: Digging Into Crafty

11/17/14

So, lazy-weekend me had a pretty good idea, actually. Using built-in Crafty stuff at first is smart. The thing I'm going for may not use the keyboard at all (an actual goal), but starting with crafty stuff made me realize that I can, in fact, go digging into the crafty source code.

A copy of it is even in my repository.

And the movement code of interest involves Twoway (platformer-esque controls) and Gravity.

Twoway has constant velocity left/right and a jump key. Gravity, well, it makes things fall, Stephan. Also, you can tell it what things will make it stop falling.

These are both things that I will need to implement in the Wuxia game, just with a mouse-click instead of with keyboard controls.

I made the mistake during Game Jam of trying to make my own stuff outside of Crafty built-in components, but still using crafty. It didn't really work. An understanding of crafty and a habit of using stuff like how crafty uses stuff will probably work out much better.
