Building Plan

03/21/15

So, I haven't been taking the building of my plans or the reviews of my days very seriously outside of work. Part of that is that I haven't been devoting as many pomodoros as I would like per day to personal projects. The only things I've been managing to do is write my book review on Hire With Your Head and write my daily blog posts.

It doesn't help that my daily blog posts are getting harder to write. More time-consuming as my well of easy thinking dries up and I need to go deeper. I mean, there's still plenty of easy blog posts to write, I'm just not so easily satisfied by them.

And the review is also going to be a lot of work. I'm writing plenty of content, but as that content gets written, I realize I want the very structure of the entire review to be different. I think it's better to get everything sorta written down first, and then organize, but it's tough to fight the me that wants to restructure now.

Anyways, today I'm taking this plan seriously, making it my bus ride pomodoro, and letting blog post writing be the bus ride home. I'll try to devote a considerable amount of pomodoros to the book review tomorrow and Monday.

I will also take my end of day review a bit more seriously, restarting my habit of thinking what I need to improve on, coming up with rough strats to do those things, and then going over what I want to accomplish the next day, and how early I need to wake up to do that.

I might make my end of day stuff two pomodoros, and even build tomorrow's plan document during the end of day review. Maybe with a plan I can work towards a ritual that makes me wake up early enough to do the things I want to do.

Anyways, today's plan: two morning pomodoros (already done), a building plan pomodoro (inprogress), a blog writing pomodoro, and two end of day pomodoros.

My work system is going really well, but my home system is still incredibly inefficient. I don't really know how to solve the problem, but part of it is waking up. A part of me thinks that will fix itself once I start running again, but I can't be sure. Just like I need to work on my middle day lag at work, I need to work on starting the day right at home.
