Building Plan
03/11/15
So, I slept in this morning, and as such am shortening my morning routine by three pomodoros. To do this, I cut out walking the dogs, spaced repetition, and had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. The morning routine spilled over into a second pomodoro still, but building my plan for the day is kinda a part of the routine, so I'm doing that for the last fifteen minutes of it.
I'm not going to beat myself up for sleeping in today. I woke up for a bit around 5 a.m., and decided to sleep more. I feel myself slowly getting more comfortable waking up early and staying up, so I'm going to let the progress continue at a pace that makes me comfortable.
Also, sleeping in feels wonderful sometimes. I managed to make each activity item in my pomodoro plan (aka each row) have a class that will describe what it is. I'm thinking four categories: growth, work, meta, and maintenance. I suppose they aren't mutally exclusive, but I'm thinking I'll focus on labeling them based off of what they most are.
The idea is to learn how much of my day goes to maintenance, work, growth, and meta. Maintenance is just keeping everything at a functional level. Work is the creation of something real and useful that I can point at and say I made. Growth is personal improvement that may be a bit more abstract in nature. Meta is iteration on this very system to make it better.
Growth without work is probably hollow. Work without growth is repetitive, and I'm not efficiently learning new skills. Maintenance needs to happen so I can grow and work without worry. Meta needs to happen such that this system better facilliates all of it.
Oh, yeah, this post is supposed to be about my plan. Two pomodoros for the morning ritual, a bus pomodoro for blogging, a bus pomodoro for reading, and a final pomodoro for end of day ritual and review.
I slept too much to do much else. But I have a feeling I'm improving on that axis. It may be that oversleeping is an every other day thing now instead of a daily one.
Anyways, I should finish getting ready for work.
