Game night this Friday? Same weekend as Spring Fling. No one cares, let's have Game Night! Need to ask if anyone else is using the IEEE room. We need to find out.

Ideas:

Research: Gathering Good Reference Material

Really learn about the shapes and anatomy of what you want to include in your drawing.

The Process

Foreground elements darker than the background elements.

Coloring in the Christmas reef.

God rays can be saved until the end.

Interesting shapes important.

Composition important.

Horrizon position important.

Light/dark important. Got to have a good value structure to be able to see what's going on in the drawing. Good means of separating individual aspects of the value. Cheating here is okay. Called "value composition".

Color Blocking

• Choose base colors
• Put them in generally the right area

Painting

• Pick colors off the canvas and start painting on top
• "Magical" step
• Tends to be mysterious to non-artists
• Actually very straightfoward when you're familiar with art
• Catch mistakes early
• Don't be afraid to erase
