So, I think I learned today to not try to do a pomodoro with distractions going on in the background. In all honesty, the distraction (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) didn't stop me from working what I was working on. I'm not sure how much it even slowed me down, even. It did, however, let me ignore the pomodoro ringing, and I ended up working on node scripts for a couple hours.
It's okay for me to be productive outside of pomodoro time, it's just not okay for me to neglect productive pomodoro time in favor of that. So, pomodoro time should be a time to get down and focus on whatever thing my plan says to focus on, and to make sure I either adhere to the plan or knowingly alter it.
And that's what I learned today.
Anyways, today had way fewer pomodoros than I would have liked for a weekend day, but I did have various committments that wouldn't really work as pomodoro items.
The next pomodoro will go better.
I'm glad I'm actually fitting in blog pomodoros. It would be so easy for me to just stop once I finished my blog post, but I find myself writing beyond that. Hopefully this will lead to higher quality posts in the long run. Though maybe it'll just lead to me producing more posts, as when I finish, I move onto a new post, I don't polish my current one. Maybe I should focus on the one blog post sometimes....
Actually, I have a few blog posts on the back-burner that would be good for polish and refinement. Perhaps when I finish early, and/or when I already have a post lined up for the day, and I'm not particularly inspired to write something else, I'll focus on just that.
Though, thinking about blog posts, I'm reminded that I'm super neglecting my book reviews. Not counting the reviews I still need to catch up on from last year, I need to write reviews for the books I've read so far this year:
Which really just means I need to actually plan them into my pomdoro time, I think. When I finish Hire With Your Head, I lug them around in their respective order and instead of reading, will write the reviews proper (adding to activity inventory).
Tomorrow, I need to do my weekly review. I can't let it slip further or I simply won't do it, and I might miss a lot of personal notes I left myself that weren't properly tracked by my still rather-incomplete system.
