Revisiting Click-Platformer Code
03/09/15
So, I kinda abandoned game dev stuff for a while there. I'm thinking I should try to give it a half-hour a week at least. So, for this week's half-hour, I am just reviewing the code I already have.
But before I dive into the code, I should play what I have again to remember.
So, I got a redtangle and some falling cherry blossoms (pink squares). I can jump up at any point, but can't jump down. I got a floor that stops falling and walls that stop x-velocity.
Some emergent properties of this are: wall-jumping, cherry-blossoms bunching up on the floor, interesting jump mechanics.
So I guess some next steps from here could be:
- "Jumping" down
-
Cherry-blossoms that pile ontop of each other
- (currently they fall past each other and all land on top of the floor)
- An interesting start screen menu
At first, before writing, I was thinking it was obvious to focus on the "jumping" down mechanic. But really, I think any of these could be valuable to do next. As such, I will pick the one that interests me the most: an interesting start screen menu.
I think any further thinking here could be done in a blog post I had reserved for this milestone a long, long time ago.
