RSS Automatic Update

04/23/15

Okay, so, where was I? It appears I verified that Cheerio can read regular old XML just fine. Good on you, Cheerio.

So, next step... do I have access to built-in node module documentation? I'd like to see how I run system commands from node.

I can build the documentation! Let's do it.

It looks like Child Process may be what I'm looking for. Let's see if I can run vim from it. Hmmm.... It looks like running vim from node won't work how I want it to. It might be smarter to couple the RSS items to the blogposts themselves (maybe display:none them in the html or something), and have my publish script use that to generate the RSS items.

Hmmm... can cheerio read comments? No, it doesn't look like there's anything in there to do that. I guess that makes sense. Althought, looking has revealed there's a straight-up xml function in cheerio. Good on you, cheerio, good on you.

So, I guess the smartest/easiest thing to do right now would be to have some sort of RSS item div hidden within each blog post file. It's also kind of a next step to having my posts saved in something slightly smarter than their own html file, I think.
