Web Site: Logging In

06/03/15

Yeah! Back to the diary!

So, I had been going through the login tutorials I found manually. But, as interesting as learning this stuff is, I'd rather play a game than play a tutorial, so I'm just going to take their code and play with it in a sandbox, and get it so I can use it for my multiple purposes.

The code is on github here and I've forked it here.

And now I'm cloning onto this here computer of mine to play with.

Nice, the README has proper instructions on what exactly I need to change to get things working for me (database.js and auth.js). Oh, I won't use auth.js for now (using Facebook, Google, or Twitter to log in). And database.js might just work out of the box:

// config/database.js
module.exports = {

    'url' : 'mongodb://localhost/passport' // looks like mongodb://<user>:<pass>@mongo.onmodulus.net:27017/Mikha4ot

};

I believe this should work fine (mongodb will make the passport area for me).

Let's start up mongodb and the server.

Yep, it just works.

Awesome.

Okay, so from here, let's work towards....

Well, I have a choice here:

Since I'm going to work on budget stuff tomorrow, let's work on Japanese study-tool now.

Logging in Setup for Japanese Study-Tool

I need to mix this logging-in tutorial with this API tutorial to create a system where I can create Japanese flash-cards on-the-fly.

External Distraction: Talking with Megan

No Japanese stuff now!
