Reflection

Okay, so the last time I had a log was December 21st.

Let's go over what happened as it pops into my brain (aka not in chronological order).

We landed in Chicago to drive from there to Pittsboro (close to Indianapolis). We went to the Chicago Diner (a mostly-vegan restaurant) both on the way out of Chicago and on the way in.

On arrival to aunt's, we unloaded and then went shopping for Christmas cooking plans. We made tamales for Christmas. Went to Quill's coffee at least once. Got Arcane coffee coldbrew at least once.

Played a bit of Spyro remastered. Don't think it's for me. Finished the DLC for Celeste, what a great game. Played a "Five Crowns" game which was basically gin rummy.

Watched a bit of:

  • Witcher (episodes 1-3)
  • Rick and Morty (season 4 episodes 1-5)
  • Star vs the Forces of Evil (season 4 episodes 1-4)

Watched a movie called "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve. I love time-travel movies so I ruminated on the time-travel rules a little bit.

Learned the birthdays of all the people I visited with. It's in Anki and I've been getting them right whenever they show up. So that's fun.

Managed to keep my weight stable while at my aunt's. I was 206.6 when I left, and I was 206.6 when I came back. This morning I was 206.4. It's time to take losing weight seriously again... soon. Maybe tomorrow, already off to a bad start today, but at least "bad" for me is staying even.

I actually studied Japanese everyday I was on vacation. The only bad day I had was... yesterday, I think, which was a weird not normal day but not vacation day. Also, I have kitten now and that's causing a lot of disruption. But still, I'm caught up on backlog of Japanese that built up from my lack of study during Thanksgiving, and am adding 10 new cards a day now. Which I think I'll stick to, even though it'd be great to finish quicker, I'm okay with adding the last new card sometime in June. There's no need to rush my Japanese.

Though, also, I want to add Spanish soon. Will add Spanish cards and have a Spanish only day with the wife (she's fluent).

...

And I just had a discussion with her about it. We'll try out Saturdays for it.

We may also try context sensitive Spanish only. Like, say, the kitchen and cooking? We'll play with it.

...

Anyways, another thing that went well is that I planned to do a walk everyday while in Indiana, and I successfully went on a walk most days. There was maybe one day I didn't hit the 10K steps goal, I think. Though, Indiana is pretty flat so I did way less hills than in Seattle. But still, it was probably why I managed to keep my weight stable.

Something that went basically the same as during Thanksgiving was stretching. Stretching was something I was good at maintaining at first, but then slowly stopped doing it over time.

Upon getting back from Indiana, the next day my sister gave the wife and I a ride to a shelter and we adopted her ESA kitten, Yoda.

Yoda was responsible for the complete lack of productivity that I planned for up until today. She destroyed my sleep quality the last few days, and I was still playing catch-up this morning.

Sleep in Indiana, however, went really well. Basically, went to sleep at 2400 each night, which was 2100 in Seattle time, so I kept my go-to-sleep schedule. Slept in every day, though, as I was fighting getting sick the whole trip, but in a non-miserable way. Aka, never got explicitly sick, but could feel it trying to worm its way in.

Otherwise, I spent a lot of quality time with my aunt, uncle, cousins, cousin's kids, and cats. Not really anything else worth noting. We made too much food and baked too many treats, but such is the holiday way.

Let's bring our focus back to the present.

Need to organize my email.

Need to go thru my wunderlist.
