I was reading the transcript instead of listening. Though, perhaps in the future I'll listen on the walks to/from home.

It's a new month, Stephan.

Maybe I should have some monthly goals.

Like, I already do at work, but maybe I should also have some personal ones.

Yesterday I did the timeblock way late into the day, but it was still really good. I like the little 30-minute, less-than-four-word descriptions of my day. It's pretty powerful.

Sun Oct 01 18:44:05 UTC 2017

I gots my Washington driver's license.

Anyways, timeblock.

Fri Sep 29 00:27:41 UTC 2017

Let it be noted that I was mentally tired and decided to browse and instead got more mentally taxed wasting thinking on stuff I have no control over.

Fri Sep 29 01:06:03 UTC 2017

Still slowly reading that Rules of Thumb paper. There's a link to a cool place called Which Test Won (now Behave.org) that shows results from A/B tests around the web.

The paper itself warns that "Rule #3: Your Mileage WILL Vary". Don't just accept the results on the page. However, testing it yourself is low-hanging fruit, so test it and add it if you get the proper mileage.

Fri Sep 29 01:23:41 UTC 2017

Oh, yeah, I linked to the main paper, but not the blog that I found it through. The Morning Paper gave a good TL;DR of the Rules of Thumb paper.

It looks like a worthwhile blog to read regularly.

Following a citation: Neil Patel suggests 10,000 monthly visitors for A/B experimentation to be viable in 11 Obvious A/B Tests You Should Try. Well, I guess I'll wait until I want to do A/B tests on a site with more than 10,000 monthly visitors before reading that link.

Fri Sep 29 01:41:54 UTC 2017

Insight from work end-of-day review:

The two 1:1s today really tired me out. Meetings with people are engaging, but incredibly taxing. Notably, the stuff I do online for entertainment have a similar effect. However, reading papers on A/B testing are engergizing.

Perhaps I should focus on non-social, technically-minded breaks when looking to recharge.

Fri Sep 29 01:43:34 UTC 2017

Heading home.

Fri Sep 29 06:04:52 UTC 2017

Keep putting off digitizing receipts. I'll keep planning it until it happens and then try to recreate the situation that made sure I did it.

Going to chill in bed until I fall asleep now.

Followed time-block pretty well outside of work today. Inside work was good, too, but I got sucked into being a perfectionist on task CA-3113.

Receipts are piling up! I'll make some time for those tomorrow.

I am no longer paying off accured bills from moving to Seattle, and am going to be paid soon. It's time to decide what I do with all the superfluous spending that I haven't "paid off" in the form of 25x multiplier into Betterment.

That will probably be the focus of my time spent at the Seattle Indies meetup on Saturday.

Bedtime.

A nice thing about time-blocking everyday is now I'm more consistent about tracking sleep. Though I'm losing some precision by rounding to the half-hour. It's not as though my tracking has been properly accurate anyways. In anything, I really should get solid data by wearing a fit-bit to bed (I got one as a gift a long time ago and have never used it).

Tue Sep 26 19:49:37 UTC 2017

For the rest of planning (10 minutes), going to make some planning checklists.

Wed Sep 27 00:43:40 UTC 2017

End of day review (work) done. Work day done. Neck super stiff (pinched nerve yesterday).

Been putting off setting up tracking my work "level". I'll still make blocks for it, but will also use extra time during planning and review blocks to setup the spreadsheet as was advised by boss.

Hoping to catch up a bit on personal maintenance stuff when I get home later today.

Good read about using analytics.

Reading ES proposal: Shared memory and atomics. It's a cool bit of reading, but I have no plans to use this information, so I'm not reading all of it.

Reading about FlatBuffers. It's a serialization library. Ooh, originally created at Google for game development... Interesting. I may want to save this for play later.

Which makes me think I should probably time-block in some technical play in my days or weeks (if doing it daily is untenable).

Tue Sep 26 00:47:03 UTC 2017

Finally reviewed my action items on my personal email. I may want to move them to a different place afterall, email isn't properly suitable for a variety of reasons. Before transfer, though, I need to properly articulate those reasons to properly assess a better replacement.

In any case, it's time for some Headspace. I'm on day 6. Being a lot better about meditating than the last time I went through the first ten days, but still skipping a lot of days.
