Saving Date at Publish Time

With RSS stuff in order, I'm trying to make publishing a bit nicer, too. The description part that goes into the RSS file is nice enough. If I don't want to rewrite anything defined anywhere else in my view file, I can just put {{thing}} there and it'll be filled in.

Though, it occurs to me that order matters in that case.... Which is something that'll fix itself when I switch to an actual templating system and not something I cobbled together.

Anyways, I digress. Something I've wanted for a while is a thing that timestamps my post the moment I publish it. The day has come and I can save an unambiguous time in the views file that is convereted into the simple date string that makes it to the html file.

Meaning I can save the time of publishment in seconds from the epoch.

Woo!

The code that faciliates this possibility will definitely need cleanup, but for now it works, and that means I'm capturing that much more information for free starting with this post.
