IGDA stuff ended up being very time consuming. Definitely need to automate a bunch of it. Maybe I'll devote some time to that next Saturday.

Anyways, now it's time to do some stuff with Japanese study-tool.

Sat Sep 23 21:22:44 UTC 2017

Devoted some time to setting up a local webapp that I access via Anvil. I'm bundling things with webpack (that's the setup used at Mixpanel).

I went through the Getting Started tutorial for webpack. The next part, Asset Management looks useful but unnecessary for my purposes right now. I should be able to start working on some basic stuff now.

Sat Sep 23 22:19:45 UTC 2017

No actual Japanese tool making stuff. Though, last time, setup was a pain and I didn't like how it all worked. The setup at Mixpanel is cool, so I'll try to replicate it for my own projects. Webpack, Jade/pug, Virtual Jade.

Maybe I'll do some Typescript. Yeah, I want to make sure I do things, but I also want to do things in a way I like, and also maybe in a way that'll improve my productivity at work. Also, less context switching.

Been sleeping a lot lately. I'm not asleep the whole time, but it is still like 12 hours spent laying on my futon. Good thing I'm falling asleep super early, as it still allows for being at work at reasonable hours.

Wasted my time on the computer this morning. Perhaps if I planned to do something specific during that time I'd be more productive. I'll speak with various people I'm working with on side-projects about it.

I'll try to develop some checklists during my weekly review to keep on top of various maintenance things.

Sat Sep 23 02:26:40 UTC 2017

Still no vegan quiche. Keep putting it off. Maybe tomorrow. Probably Sunday. Time to get ready for bed and SLEEP.

Been letting organizational maintennce stuff slide, which is also why I haven't been keeping a very thorough diary lately.

I caught up on tickler today, but also have a lot in my inbox to process.

I have finally sat down and timeblocked the day. I have stuff planned until I go to sleep around 1900 PDT. Considering it's written in a notebook I'll leave at work around 1600 PDT, I'll copy down the plan here.

Thu Sep 21 18:09:14 UTC 2017

I have made a 24-hour template for time-blocking. Will fill copy it first thing in the morning from now on, hopefully.

Thu Sep 21 18:26:15 UTC 2017

Ended up getting caught up with setting up stuff for easy planning in the future, and then went down the 401k setup rabbit-hole. I was going to still maximize my 401k this year (basically devoting almost 3k per paycheck towards it), but upon reviewing the rules for using it as a downpayment towards property, I have decided against it.

I may well try to get some Seattle property now, as it appears to continue to grow in cost, and rent is raising at a similar rate. Better to make my house-spending constant than continue to pay more in rent for no real gain. Also, currently house prices in Seattle are beating the stock market. But, betting on that continuing is a fool's errand, especially when that fool (me) doesn't know anything about real estate and such can't have a proper opinion on it.

In any case, I thought I would just use 401k money for downpayment, but it looks like I'm limiited to 50k or 50% of total 401k invested. I'm guessing that's "whichever is higher".

In any case, I've spent way too much impromptu time on this. Need to focus on work tasks.

Got some double sleep in last night and everything basically back to normal.

Mixpanel is a pretty cool place. People mentioned I looked exhausted/tired yesterday and my boss said I had to go home, no excuses. I really wanted to finish a thing but he was having none of it.

Considering the fact that I fell asleep right when I got home, and after 8 hours went back to bed again for another 7 hours of sleep... it was probably the correct move.

Woke up at 1000 PDT today. Slowly drifting forward still. Well, I'll be talking to my doctor about it at the end of this month. It seems that work will be okay with it as long as I get work done, so that's good.

Mon Sep 11 22:08:53 UTC 2017

Got various things in the push pipeline at work, and now am starting new thing.

Tue Sep 12 04:43:08 UTC 2017

Got the new thing basically done before going home.

Upon getting home, I started cooking "fish" (tofu) and chips. Needed to do some quick grocery shopping so I walked over to the QFC and got some stuff while letting the cut potatoes soak.

Afterwards, to take a break, I watched season 4, episode 4 of Bojack Horseman. I really enjoy this show.

All receipts digitized. Definitely lost a Costco receipt. Oh, well, not a big deal. Now it's time to decide what to do with all these scans.

Mon Sep 11 03:21:23 UTC 2017

I am attempting to make one day a week devoted to what the wife wants to do, and that day is today.

Still managed to tackle and do a lot of non-wife-related activities, though.

Almost done scanning all my receipts onto my computer. All the physical ones I managed to keep my hands on, anyways. Seems I lost a Costco receipt at some point.

I can't help but think of the next step whilst I'm doing it. I'm getting pretty close to being caught up on this step, I think the next step is to put it all into a database though some sort of interface (probably scripts at first) and break it down into necessary spending and superfluous spending, and calculate my "imaginary debt".

Imaginary debt being what I call my savings-based-on-spending goals. Which is 25-times any spending on superfluous spending, and matching the necessary spending towards a static band account.

I want this to backfill to all the spending I did since accepting the job. So I have some catching up to do.

I also have some real debt to catch up to again. I dipped into my index fund that matched my school debts to finance some things ahead of time, and ended up overspending a bit, so I need to refill that index fund so that I'm actually making more interest on money I owe by investing it instead of paying it off.

I'll nail down the specific numbers hopefully by my third paycheck (second paycheck coming this week).

Time for some Overwatch.
