Daily Entry: March 3rd, 2020

Lost Days

I came back from SF sick, and today I slowly found myself growing into my non-sick self. I was sleeping basically 16 hours a day until today. Hoping to have a try at my normal sleep schedule tomorrow.

No Timeblock Today

It's late enough now (2030) that a timeblock has no real value. I also don't have any real way to anchor what I did today to a specific time of day. Today was still a rest day, but I also started doing some of my maintenance tasks and hopefully can transition smoothly into work tomorrow.

Dream

Had a bunch of fever dreams over the past few days. Had a really rare "need to go to the bathroom" in the dream, and even went to the bathroom in the dream and luckily only woke up needing to go to the bathroom, not having any other issue.

No-Twitter Streak Continues!

It appears that I have successfully separated the politics trigger for twitter. Now I have some YouTube channels I go to. Which is definitely better.

I'm hoping this means that Twitter is properly removed from my life.

Missing Days

Had to plan around poor parent planning over the weekend, and then I had travel to SF. I just skipped timeblocking the days, and I wouldn't have been able to predict the days anyways.

I finished reading The War of Art. Pretty good.

Started reading To Hell with the Hustle and I'm not interested, I don't think. I saw it on a bestseller shelf at Target a while ago. I don't think it has anything new to say to me.

Tried out a no pomodoro morning. The main reason being I wanted to leave early today, but I have a lot of at-home maintenance tasks that are ideal to do every morning. I might want to reserve pomodoros for deep work.... I'll ruminate on it.

Remembered my dream clearly upon waking up, but felt the need to go back to sleep and it's gone now.

Work friend is visiting and he likes to climb, so I'm going climbing this morning. Which also means that today will be a "practice flexibility" day, for sure.

Three days into my "warm up and stretch after waking up" habit, and I'm hoping it'll stick. It's solid, and it also means I get my stretching in before my walk/run to work, which I'm pretty sure improves the quality of that travel.

Feel like I vaguely remember having a dream. But it's gone now.

Woke up at 0500 just fine this morning. Wondering if consistency of stretching really is the missing piece there. If it is, my new morning routine of warming up and stretching should work. It also fits in nicely with my morning TV watching, so I may be gaining time there? Or at least it's "okay" now that I'm watching extra TV before I start my planning pomodoro.

Dream

I had a lucid dream last night, I'm pretty sure. The parts that I remember were... explicit, so I won't share them. There was also a very abstract part afterwards. It was nothing but white, and my thoughts were not words or pictures but just this feeling I can't put into words.

It was neat.

Thinking

I think the missing piece of my stability is stretching. I've been real bad about being consistent with it, and have removed a lot of stretches from my daily routine. I got in most of my stretching yesterday and feel much better today. Not proof, but a data point in that direction.

Because morning routines are my most-consistent thing I do, I think I'll try and make it so I stretch before these planning pomodoros which I did this morning. And I feel pretty gpood.

This should also make my morning runs to work (which I plan on doing again) better, as I'll have already stretched.

Hoping Twitter Habit is Dead Again

I still have the trigger, but don't even open a browser and start typing it in. This is also the different trigger (politics) then the one defeated before, and that one didn't come back, I don't think. Which I think means I have overwritten the politics trigger.

We'll see, but I'm hopeful. I felt like crap on Saturday and still managed to not go to twitter at all. Let's see what happens come the Nevada primary, though.

Lost Days

Had a weekend with no energy again.... Managed to stay off twitter. Took a rest day on Saturday, but managed to do some walking, grocery shopping, cooking, music with wife, and call with friend on side-projects on Sunday.

Also, played Overwatch to sanity check whether or not to rest or to fight the lack of energy. I didn't feel terrible playing on Sunday, so I decided to fight a bit.

Good sanity check, I think.
