I broke down a bunch of my money-stuffs yesterday. I noted a savings rate of 16.9% but mentioned that I don't count 401k.

This may be a mistake. I set aside $770 per paycheck. Meaning that if I counted that money as saved, my savings rate for (what I consider a bad spending month) was 30%. Which is significantly better.

Though, I'm also just looking at the paycheck and not at my salary. Like, I could also consider how much I'm paying in taxes. Which would have its value, because it then incentivizes minimizing paying taxes. Of which I could start making efforts.

Like, for example, I seem to pay about $120 on bus fares per month. That could be pretax dollars, and come with tax savings of.... I'm not actually sure how to do that math.

I should also take advantage of tax incentives and stuff.

Basically, it may be smart to look at my paystub every paycheck and put more data into income vs. expenses. I could split my paychecks in YNAB to do this, even.

I answered a customer email today. That's all the work I did.

I took it somewhat easy during climbing today. At the very least, it didn't super exhaust me like climbing last week did. Not feeling too fatigued or sore, either. Regressed a bit on the challenge I've been working on. Couldn't get quite as far. This is fine, though. Progress is chaotic.

I managed some time for IGDA admin stuff today. Also, more investment setup stuff. I have some time-sensitive stuff to do with IGDA, but after that I may want to return to remaking my pomodoro timer. By which I mean start over again, because I've decided to do that for sure now. I have proven there's too much value in my current, hacked-together system to really ignore the potential value of a properly put-together setup.

Reading today:

Today I finished reading the Pragmatic Programmer. I have various reminders in Wunderlist to talk about concepts I really liked in the book, or give me vocabularly to communicate my own experiences. Good book, I recommend it.
