Went to bed early last night in an attempt to make up for poor sleep before. I know that "catching up" isn't a real thing, but I also know the body tries to do just that anyways. I wasn't tired yesterday much at all, however, which is cool. Thought it might hit me today, but I woke up feeling pretty good. Maybe I got away with it? I'm still not going to make it a habit.

Calories yesterday were 200 below what I was "allowed", which is exactly what I want to do so I can have a cheat day on Sundays. Weight was 216.2 (215 after bathroom).

Productivity yesterday was still a bit low. Potentially due to sleep deprivation. Will try for 8 pomodoros at least, today.

Stayed up late watching TV last night.... Got just under 6 hours of sleep according to my fitbit. Not feeling too exhausted, but it might hit me later, or hurt me tomorrow.

Yesterday was a real cheat day. I consumed 4758 calories and only burned 3444. If I want to do a weekly cheat day, I'll need to eat about 250 calories less on the other days to meet my goals. My weight this morning was 217.2.

I was not productive yesterday. I don't think it was the climbing. I think some weekends I just need to chill. Though I did manage to process a bunch of tickler items, still, which is good.

Time to head to the office.

No huge dip in weight this morning. 216.2. Not a big deal. Going to continue on like this for bit and assess the data. Maybe next week, as that'll be the start of a new month.

I want to try to be productive today, and so I've decided against climbing today. Climbing can be very exhausting and lead to a Sunday of lying on the couch. But, in all honesty, there's nothing stopping that from happening anyways....

Maybe I will climb, actually. It's a good day to climb. Tomorrow I don't go to the gym. Plan updated to reflect climbing.

Climbing yesterday did happen and went well. I was pretty physically tired yesterday, and didn't get many work pomodoros in. But everything is in place to churn out code next week, so I may do really well on pomodoro count next week.

I'm thinking my weight will go thru weekly cycles. With only two weeks of data, I notice that Tuesday-Friday is mostly stable, Saturday can be high (probably because of Friday lunches high calories), and Sunday is a huge dip because I don't eat as much on Saturday because I don't exercise as much on the weekend. Monday is usually the same as Sunday because Sunday is like Saturday. But then I exercise and eat a lot on Monday and Tuesday is a climb, but lower than the previous week's Tuesday.

So, the first week I was 219, but dipped to 215.6 and stayed there until Friday, wherein I was 217 (due to eating a lot at an offsite), and today I'm 217, but tomorrow, will I dip to below 215? I'm trying to add some predictability to this setup. Once I understand the cycles, I can also glean more data from how accurate my calorie counting and burning is.

In any case, I'm planning on all the time I have control over today to be lazy. No projects, no action items, just games and TV and what-have-you.

But no Twitter. No Twitter has continued and I'd like it to stay that way.

Also, fun thing I remember from waking up in the middle of the night:

Wife, under two blankets (one of them weighted): "I'm cold."

Me, switching from single sheet to cuddling under blankets with her, and feeling how cold she is: "How are you so cold under two blankets?"

Her response: "How are you so warm when you were just under a sheet?"

1100 continued to be a good nap time, even though meeting constraints squeezed the nap to be a bit shorter than I would like.

Stretching at the office worked very well, but it was a special circumstance. Going to the gym almost everyday is a goal because it makes overcoming the friction of actually getting to the gym a habit. Once I'm at the gym, working out is a much easier decision. I will go to the gym today. I am thinking I'll climb, but it is not necessary. I can back out at any time. All the plan means is unless I back out before I leave, I need to bring my climb gear with me to the gym.

So, last weekend, to work around the wife's ideal coffee schedule, I took a nap early at 1100. Both days. And both days the nap was glorious. On Monday, the nap wasn't anything notable, and on Tuesday it was bad, so yesterday I tried 1100 again. It was again amazing.

I believe that 1100 is a better nap time. I think it also leads naturally to me being tired earlier in the day, which should further help stabilize my sleep. So, 1100 naps from now on. My energy levels yesterday were considerably better than the day before, even with the poor sleep. Though I will possibly be paying for that poor sleep today. We shall see.

Today is a day full of meetings, and as such I will practice my flexibility, skip the gym, stretch at work, and try to get a few pomodoros of work in before the endless day of meetings.

I had two weird dreams last night. The first one was a nightmare involving Evil Dead-esque shenanigans. The second one was a mundane watching TV with family dream, but various things about it didn't make sense. I don't really have much more to say about either.

I got very tired yesterday. There are a lot of possible reasons:

  • climbing after stretching maybe was particularly exhausting
  • a lower carb:protein ratio (up until I got home from work)
  • ping pong up to 10 minutes before nap (nap didn't feel very restful)
  • lunch was not particularly filling

I also didn't end up sleeping very well last night (6 hours 11 minutes according to fitbit). I will likely repeat the lower carb:protein ratio, but not the other two items. If I'm still tired it may be due to poor sleep, though, so I'll maintain my carb:protein ratio diet update for at least a week before deciding I'm too low energy under it.

Note: still eating plenty of carbs, just trying out being a bit closer to the ratios that Cronometer recommends. Because I'm curious how that will affect me.

Yesterday was a good day. If I can start squeezing in 10 pomodoros again instead of 8 I'll be in a solid place. Though, adding a personal pomodoro at home does make that a bit difficult.

Weight was 215.6 pre-bathroom and 213.8 afterwards. Again, interesting. According to cronometer, I could've eaten another 700 calories yesterday and still be on track for 1 pound a week. I just wasn't hungry, though. If I keep that up I should be at more than 2 pounds a week. If that ends up being the case I'll try to make sure it's no more than 2 pounds a week. I think that's unhealthy? Maybe the way I'm doing it doesn't really apply though, as I still ate 3200 calories yesterday.

In fact, I feel like I'm quite the anomaly for cronometer's recommended strats. It's recommending I eat 250 grams of protein in a day. This is to meet some ratio of protein, fat, and carbs as my source of calories. But I think maybe the ratio isn't supposed to grow linearly with calorie intake. I'm already plenty full at the ratio I'm achieving while being well below my calorie goals.

In any case, it's gym time.

Only managed to process tickler yesterday, no other work. Which is fine. Though, I'll need to find time to update my resume this week, don't want to keep delaying doing that indefinitely.

Weight stayed consistent this morning at 215.6, which is neat. Also, perhaps, another argument for weighing first thing. No telling if I'll lose anything to bathroom shenanigans.

Stretching has been great for the crink in my neck, only was a little annoying yesterday. It's also worst in the morning before stretching, which I think makes sense for a variety of reasons. I'll try and stretch when I get to the office today (as Monday is the only no-gym day).

I have made an appointment with a doctor to get a diagnosis (or lack thereof) of ADHD. Let's see what happens.

Every Sunday, I have put a lot of items in my Wunderlist tickler. So, today, I'm blocking an hour to tackling that list.

When I got back from streching at the gym, my weight had reduced yet again from 216.2 to 214.4. This morning, pre-bathroom, I was 216.2, and after bathroom I was 214.6. So, if I continue this pre-bathroom weigh-in, it's likely I'll be heavier throughout the week days (as I exercise and eat more those days) and lighter on Sunday/Monday. Though, this may be true regardless of weigh-in timing.

I think, because I'm trying to lose weight, I should consider the timing where I weigh heaviest but that is still the most consistent timing. Morning is consistent because the previous 8 hours are the same across the days, and I weigh the most pre-bathroom, so that'll be my official weight. We'll see if I still feel this way in a week.

Today, I will climb at the gym again. I need to wait for the grocery store to open anyways, and I don't plan much other exercise. I'll make sure not to push myself too hard. Maybe I'll stick with just the easiest challenges. We'll see.
