Twitter did not come back yesterday and I did not repeat the action this morning.

It is the weekend and I'm now officially starting a pomodoro when beginning the task (during orthopulse shenanigans). Hopefully once orthopulse ends I'll manage to transition to a morning pomodoro habit, but we'll see in half a year when that happens.

Once again weighed 219 this morning, but after bowl movement weighed 216.2. Maybe I should move the weigh-in until after morning bathroom action. It would probably be more consistent. Yesterday, I weighed 219 before and 217.4 after. How much I am retaining is pseudorandom, in a sense. I believe it'll lead to looking like I lost a lot of weight tomorrow as weekend calories/diet will be reduced because calorie burning is reduced and so I'll also have less waste to dispose of in the morning.

We'll keep at it the current way for another week and see if I feel like changing my mind then.

I'm beginning to think the crink in my neck was indeed due to overdoing it the other day. Specifically, I think it was the long walk home carrying heavy groceries that caused it. I used to think it was sleeping weird, but I think more likely I strained something whenever this has happened. Maybe a couple of times it was sleeping weird.

In any case, today will be another only-stretch day at the gym.

Did a little bit of Twitter today, but it was curiousity over someone whom I've never read their Twitter before. I stopped shortly there-after. We'll see if that triggers anything, though.

Once again I'm doing my organization at home basically first thing. Meaning once again it'll count as a personal pomodoro. Which I like. It means work pomodoros will be more explicitly nose to grindstone.

Overdid it a bit yesterday, exercise-wise. I don't think it's related, but I also woke up with a crink in my neck. Hopefully stretching helps even it out. Today will be just walking (no running) and also just stretching at the gym.

According to my fitbit, I burned 4930 calories yesterday (BMR + exercise). I feel like that can't be accurate. According to cronometer, I ate 4516 calories yesterday. That I do believe. When I weighed myself this morning, it was 219 pounds, but I weigh myself first thing, before any bathroom shenanigans. I'll just have to continue using the apps for a while and see how my trending weight compares with these numbers.

No-Twitter life continues! Woo! Still feeling pretty great, too, but all the reasons that could be are still in effect.

Counting calories is going really well. Because Cronometer is tracking more than just calories, and is giving me goals, it's making eating a game of balance, which is fun and also a balanced diet is more filling on fewer calories. According to Cronometer, my calorie-deficit yesterday was 1200 calories (which is basically a third of a pound). I'm not actually any lighter today (weighed 217.4 yesterday and weighed that much this morning), but all that stuff is lagging indicators.

I do have to be careful about potential fitbit overestimating of burning calories and my own underestimation of calories consumed. But I'd assume I'm within 10% or even 5% of the reported number on both. In any case, I can figure out what the average error is cumulatively in a couple weeks time comparing what I should weigh to what I do weigh. No rush, either, I feel good as is. Being lighter will just make various things easier, which is the main reason to be lighter.

Anyways, I actually did my organization pomodoro at home today! Meaning I gots a personal pomodoro for the first time in a bit. I may want to make this a habit, especially since the thing that triggers these daily logs currently won't last forever (invisalign orthopulse). Won't even last a whole year.

Time to go to gym.

No Twitter again yesterday. Exciting.

Going to the gym only to stretch yesterday was a success. Because the work day will be messed with via an all hands today, I'm just doing another stretch day today. Also, I just felt great yesterday. There's so many possible reasons why:

  • sleep is in a good place (felt amazing after nap)
  • stretching
  • lack of Twitter
  • extra 2 miles of walking
  • counting calories
  • reduced sugar due to counting calories

I have a feeling it's a bit of everything. Cronometer is looking like a solid addition to my daily habits. I'll probably pay for gold soon. It's super useful that it syncs with my Fitbit. It tells me how many calories I can have based on calories burned from fitbit. It'll be interesting to see if my calorie tracking and fitbit's calories burned is accurate enough to lead to accurate weight loss ETAs.

I went ahead and got gold subscription just now. Now I can make recipes and stuff, which should streamline my calorie counting and/or make it more accurate.

All right, gym time.

Yesterday, I successfully avoided Twitter the whole day. I also avoided YouTube but that wasn't really on purpose, it was just a full day. I had trouble falling asleep, and I think it was because it was too hot in the room. Once I opened the windows I fell asleep pretty quickly. I have an AC setup in my office, but the cool air doesn't really get into the bedroom. Better to turn off the AC and open windows in both rooms to create a breeze, I think. Potentially, in the future I'll want some fans to create circulation between the rooms. Or I can explore getting another window adapter for the AC so it can be setup in the bedroom.

Anyways, I'm going to "skip" the gym today, but I want to make the travel part of the gym non-negotiable. Also, I suppose, the stretching is non-negotiable. So, I'm going to walk to the gym, stretch, and walk home. No additional working out. I overdid it last week. More important to build the habit of going to the gym on a daily basis than to ramp up on my workouts. Especially since now I'm counting calories. I've reprioritized my hierarchy of self-improvement.

I needed a self-care weekend. My only focus was taking a nap and going to bed at the right times on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, it was mostly just a bunch of playing Factorio. No going back and backlogging, that's not worth anything.

Yesterday started off bad but I recovered pretty well. I am still not going climbing today. I overdid it. I will be back at building the habit this weekend, and I'm going to take it super slow (aka no "hard" days until at least September and my diet is in a good place).

Losing some self-control. This is a time to learn how and where I can fight and adapt back to ideal state. It's possible I'm going too hard too fast at the gym and should roll that back a bit.

In any case, I consider various things that I still managed to do a success:

  • still made this log post
  • moved my working setup back to my office and started a pomodoro

We'll see if I can make it to 8 pomodoros for the day. That'd be a full recovery.

Now that I'm doing hard days at the climb gym... the idea of going everyday is revealing itself as a mistake. I'll reconsider it after my body has gotten used to hard days at the gym, but for now I'll just go on the hard days of Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Maybe I'll try out an off-day Saturday and see how my body reacts to going easy on an off day.

I didn't get any gaming in yesterday, and so I'm going to make up for that a bit this morning. We'll see if that is a mistake later today.

I'm feeling a bit tired this morning. I've gotten the usual amount of sleep, though. I woke up in the middle of the night for a bit, though. We'll see how I feel throughout the day.

Slept thru my watch alarm this morning. Which is weird as I woke up 10 minutes beforehand and felt pretty awake. I'm trying to train myself to wake up precisely at 0500, but maybe that's the wrong tact. In any case, I slept well last night. Didn't feel particularly sleep deprived yesterday, but by the end of the day I was dead tired.

Part of me just wants to play video games today, but... I got to go to the gym and then I have to go to work.

So that's what I'm doing.
