Dream:

I was visiting family in a house that doesn't exist. I kept staying up late to watch Naruto. At some point, it became Boruto, but I switched the channel and it was Naruto again. I kept waking up my parents because it was too noisy. Started listening on headphones, but forgot to turn the speakers down. Switched to a bed room but it was still too loud. Eventually, it was morning and my parents were exploring the freezer (in the bedroom I was in). There were pancakes in there, and my parents asked if I wanted some.

"Not vegan," I had already checked.

"Yes, they are," they replied. So I rechecked. Couldn't find any non-vegan ingredients. So, I ate some pancakes. Then I started hanging out with my wife. The end.

So... I might not be done doing work yet today...? I mean, I've only gotten in 6 work pomodoros today. On the other hand, maybe it's okay to let that happen as long as I make my weekly goal? Though, already that becomes hard if I don't get more in today. 12 pomodoro days are fairly rare.

Anyways, the thing I've been working on went open-beta today. Lexicon 2.0 is what we're calling it. Its purpose is to define the implementation of the Mixpanel product within the project of the customer.

Skipped climbing this morning. Will try to go tomorrow.

No personal project time today, I think.

I'm going to see what happens with not making my minimum today, and decide if it was okay at the end of this week. If it was not, then I'll make sure not to repeat it when I can help it.

I have finished reading The Three-Body Problem, and have put the next book on hold at the library. I immensely enjoyed the read. Let's see if I enjoy the trilogy.

It occurs to me that it'd be cool to have the timestamps I got be in the timezone of the visitor via javascripting. Same for the timeblock.

I did end up going to twitter today, but only for one 5-minute interval.

Made the mistake of looking at work email and then had an idea of a chart I could make. So I did. Spent a lot of time messing with stuff there.

Got a new blister climbing today. I think that's a good sign? Tried a problem over and over again until it happened.

Did some pygame stuff for that one dude from back when I was funemployed.

Pomodoros really do give me energy.... I may want to force these end of day reviews sooner for sleep stability reasons.

Read a bit of twitter due to my curiousity in SCOTUS matters.

Also got a few hours of reading in on the Three-Body Problem. Now on page 190 of 399.

It was really hard to focus today. Still got plenty of work done and stuff out, though. I'm getting really addicted to using the Mixpanel product. I'm finding it a lot of fun. I mentioned my realization from yesterday about my being in the associative stage during drinks. I'm also starting to develop opinions about how the product should be. Which is great!

I just need to work on implementation and sending tracking events and I'll be ready to use this in my own projects.

The stuff I've been working on goes open beta next week (on Monday). Exciting!

Skipped climbing today. Will go tomorrow.

Didn't do much in the way of personal projects today. Will be getting some time in tomorrow, though, I think.

I've made twitter more expensive and the mere act of doing that has kept me from going there (haven't even tried). Hope that continues.

Note to weekly review me: last year has some relevant links to stuff I'm working on now.

I've gone full workaholic, Stephan. I've decided to ask about getting a second working computer so that I don't have to decide to bring mine home and thus there'll be less friction to me going home on a day where I want to run home (I can run home and still continue working).

Today, I stopped all the 500s flowing from my api endpoint. Feels good.

No personal projects today. Had a doctor's appointment instead. Interesting news! I need glasses. I got a subscription and will order some by Saturday.

I've gotten past the initial learning curve of using the Mixpanel product, I think. Ooh, this is an opportunity to use those words.... I'm past the cognitive stage and in the associative stage. And now I can just play with it and learn how to do more things.

Dogfooding is an explicit goal at Mixpanel that we're having trouble with. And the team I'm on (data management)... we take some of the responsibility for that. The Mixpanel project (project 3) is messy and hard to use, and we need to clean it up and to do that we need the tools to clean it up.

But... one can still use the product if they can work past this extra friction. And that's what I'm working on.

The above is an image showing my use of project 3. It started skyrocketing around the time of the shock to my system. This is an incomplete view, but it is still of value. I will look at it regularly.

I talked about putting off updating my "work-level" document last year. Now that I do a work weekly review (at least once a month), and since I added updating that document to that process, I actually am regularly referring to it.

It's going to be fun reading my posts from a year ago now that I've started time blocking. Get all kinds of data out of it, I think.

Today was very distracting, work-wise. Ended up doing a fair bit of work outside pomodoros which is bad. Still got my minimum of 8 in, though. And I still really appreciate that minimum's existence.

I forced some climbing in today and am really glad I got it in there. The rest I took was good I think, as the ones that were hard but doable are now significantly easier. Though I didn't do any I couldn't do before (though there were a lot of new ones that I did).

I did an IGDA meeting today. And scheduled a couple more. I'm slowly gaining ground on organizing IGDA stuff. Still not quite at inbox zero there.

My week in SF significanty destabilized me. Which was somewhat on purpose. I'm pretty happy to see a slow restabilization. It's better to stay stable, as this is super annoying and hard and not done yet, but it's good to see resilience.

I've read and watched a fair bit as I fell behind. I don't think I'm going to try and list the things I skipped.

Work was solid today, but I chose more work over personal projects. Which is bad, because I have some things to do for IGDA.

I will try to climb tomorrow.
